Antarctica Qrill Aqua sutainability

Part of the solution to global challenges

We intend to be part of the solution to the global challenges below, and go beyond our responsibility as a supplier and producer of marine ingredients. We are not only committed to the health of the fish and shrimp that eat our feed, but the future of fisheries and all marine ingredients.

 Loss of biodiversity

Loss of biodiversity

All our customers are part of conserving the ecosystem in Antarctica where we fish through our support to the Antarctic Wildlife research Fund to promote and facilitate research. The management of the krill fishery is research- and ecosystem-based. By making sure that there is enough research on the Antarctic ecosystem we are securing the future of the fishery.

Rise of lifestyle diseases

Rise of lifestyle diseases

Every year 37 million lives are lost to lifestyle diseases (NCDs), of which 42% is lost before the age of 70 and can be prevented by healthy lifestyle choices. Eating more fatty fish is one such choice, and high values of Omega-3 can help prevent three of the four most common NCDs; cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and chronic respiratory diseases. We believe in maximizing the positive impact of our products and only supply ingredients to feed markets with documented health benefits.

Resource scarcity

Resource scarcity

75% of global fish stocks are either overfished or fished to its capacity (FAO2014). A shift away from overfished marine ingredients is needed for Aquaculture to enter into a phase of sustainable growth. QRILL Aqua is a reliable and sustainable sourced fish feed best used as an enabler to promote faster growth and enhance health and quality of farmed marine species. Doing more with less.

Climate changeClimate change

With rising temperatures around the globe, there is reported a shift among consumers favoring plant-based diets and seafood, over more CO2-intensive sources of protein like red meat. We are committed to becoming net positive and are working together with partners along our entire value chain to lower our environmental impact.
