A strong health and quality contributor for Salmonids

QRILL Aqua is produced from whole, fresh-caught and dried Antarctic krill. It is no surprise that farmed fish such as salmon prefer feed that contains the nutritious shrimp-like crustacean they would naturally eat in the wild.

Rich in phospholipid-bound omega-3 fatty acids, including EPA and DHA, krill meal’s phospholipids are the building blocks of cell membranes and therefore the ideal omega-3 delivery system.

Accelerated Growth

Encouraging a far better uptake of feed than conventional fishmeal, QRILL Aqua is proven to help speed up farmed fish growth by between 10% and a staggering 25%. This effect is particularly beneficial for stocks such as Rainbow Trout, which typically suffer reduced appetite with plant-based feeds.

Better Health

Antarctic krill is a natural source of essential functional ingredients beneficial to fish health and, ultimately, fillet quality and aquaculture yield.

Rich in omega-3 fatty acids in the phospholipid form, Antarctic krill meal’s phospholipids are the building blocks of all cell membranes. QRILL Aqua is the ideal omega-3 delivery system.

Added to feed, Aker BioMarine’s QRILL Aqua beneficially influences fat content and distribution, and improves muscle quality, resulting in firmer, thicker fillets. The krill’s astaxanthin content naturally enhances the red pigmentation of the fish flesh.

By boosting a natural resistance to many of the illnesses increasingly affecting farmed salmon, Antarctic krill can also play an important role in a structured de-licing strategy.

Sustainable Supply

Processed, dried, and packaged onboard our factory trawlers as soon as it is harvested. Addintionally, QRILL Aqua is easy to integrate into any feed recipe. And Antarctic krill is extremely low in contaminants. QRILL Aqua is certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) as 100% sustainably sourced and traceable.
