Aker BioMarine heads to Ecuador for AQUA EXPO 2022

Blog overview

For the first time ever, Aker BioMarine will attend AQUA EXPO 2022, (Guayaquil, Ecuador, from October 17-20) to meet with experts from across the aquaculture industry. Ecuador is the world’s number one producer and exporter of whiteleg shrimp, highlighting shrimp farming as a key topic at the conference.

Aker BioMarine is sending its QRILL Aqua Americas team, including Geronimo Leonardi and Valentina Tapia, to the event to talk about innovation, sustainability, product development, and more, from the company’s stand #148-149.

“We aim to improve our presence in Ecuador, and we plan to introduce our products and our new distributor to this market,” said Geronimo Leonardi, Sales Director at Aker BioMarine.

“We look forward to meeting with all the aqua feed manufacturers, shrimp farmers, researchers and institutions who will be present at AQUA EXPO. We will use this opportunity to help build a better understanding about QRILL Aqua as a sustainable functional ingredient with proven benefits for aquafeeds to the industry,” he added.

AQUA EXPO 2022 aims to present the best that aquaculture has to offer, especially when it comes to the pursuit of the continual growth and development in the Ecuadorian shrimp industry. Researchers, academics, and corporates alike will share their learnings and expertise to stimulate greater innovation and spur on aquaculture development in this country.

As part of the conference, Dr. Alberto N.J. Nunes from Instituto de Ciências do Mar (Labomar), in Brazil and a frequent research partner to Aker BioMarine, will present the findings from a recent study on the “Growth performance, attractability and digestibility of conventional by-products as feed proteins to juvenile Litopenaeus vannamei”.

In his presentation, Dr. Nunes plans to talk to AQUA EXPO conference attendees about the protein sources that are the most effective feed ingredients for growing large and healthy shrimp. Spoiler alert – krill meal (QRILL Aqua brand) performed exceptionally well during this trial, yielding high feed intake and growth performance due to its efficient digestibility.
