Better use of resources

The human population has increased considerably. As of August 2018, the total population of the world exceeded 7.63 billion people. The growing world population puts a strain on human food production. Due to fish being a good source of protein and omega-3, fish farming is one of the focuses of food production increase worldwide. The need for a sustainable sourced marine ingredient for aquafeed has never been higher.

In 2016 alone, fish farmers using Aker BioMarine’s krill produced an additional 175 million servings of salmon – without increasing the amount of feed they used. An independent research study conducted by the Norwegian institute Nofima, showed that farmed salmon grow faster with the inclusion of krill meal, QRILL Aqua in the diet.
