Better use of resources

The human population has increased considerably. As of the end of 2017, the world population has reached 7.6 billion. The growing world population puts a strain on human food production. Due to being a good source of protein and omega-3, fish farming is one of the focuses of food production increase worldwide. The need for a sustainable sourced marine ingredient for aquafeed has never been higher.

In 2016 alone, fish farmers using Aker BioMarine’s krill produced an additional 175 million servings of salmon – without increasing the amount of feed they used. An independent study conducted by the research institute Nofima, showed that farmed salmon grow 10–25 percent faster due to the company’s feed supplement, QRILL Aqua.
